I am committed to making a contribution to the improvement of education in the 21st century. As a teacher educator, educational researcher and professor of Linguistics at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Leuven, I try to construct bridges between research and educational practice. My main research areas are equity in education, education in the 21st century and the role of the teacher in task-based education.

Biography
I am a teacher educator and professor of linguistics at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Leuven (Belgium). I have published several articles and books on equity and excellence in education and on innovation in 21st-century education. One of my main research areas is task-based language teaching: I was the first President of the International Association for Task-Based Language Teaching (IATBLT vzw) and I am currently one of the series editors of a volume series on task-based language teaching. I am also one of the chief editors of the journal ITL (International Journal of Applied Linguistics). I am the current academic promoter of the Centre for Language and Education, which supports schools in offering all students maximal opportunities to learn, irrespective of their ethnic or linguistic background.Areas of Research / Professional Expertise
