BiographyI am a psychoanalyst and photographer. I feel fortunate that I was able to bring together these two passions in the realization of my book, In the Shadow of Freud's Couch: Portraits of Psychoanalysts in Their Offices. The book is the culmination of fifteen years of photographing portraits of analysts in their work spaces in North and South America, Mexico, Canada and Europe. During this time, while working patients in my offices in New York City, I became intrigued with the importance of physical space and the visual dimension in the psychoanalytic experience for analysts as well as patients.
I am a trained psychoanalyst and on the faculty of New York University Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, the Stephen Mitchell Center for Relational Psychoanalysis, the National Institute of Psychotherapies and the Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy. I have also trained as a photographer at the International Center for Photography, Pratt Institute, the Maine Photography Workshops and the City College of New York
