I was initiated into the craft of translation whilst employed as an in-house translator-abstractor with Fisons Ltd, and then went freelance, producing abstracts from foreign journals for various research institutions and commercial publications, gaining useful experience from short-term contracts in Geneva. I taught translation at the University of Surrey, London Metropolitan University, and Imperial College, and was a Senior Lecturer at the University of Westminster until 2011.

I have written a novel "Notes out of Time" (available from lulu.com), compiled two anthologies of work by Sutton Writers and had a number of children’s stories published on an App called Storytime for Kids (Lite), available on Google Play. Two local history plays I wrote have been performed by community theatre groups.
