Dr Francis Jegede is Associate Professor in International Relations and Diplomacy in the College of Business, Law and Social Sciences at the University of Derby. He is the Chair of the College Research Committee and has had a long service at the University of Derby as Subject Leader for International Relations and Diplomacy programme.

Biography

Dr Francis Jegede is Associate Professor in International Relations and Diplomacy in the College of Business, Law and Social Sciences and the Chair of College Research Committee at the University of Derby, UK. He has an extensive experience in supervising and managing doctoral students across many disciplines in the social sciences. He has nurtured, tutored and supported many UK and international students through their doctoral journeys.  As Chair of the College Research Committee, and a researcher, he has considerable experience in academic and operational matters relating to postgraduate research, including quality management and enhancement issues, regulations, student progression, examinations and monitoring. Dr Jegede has had a long service at the University of Derby as a leading academic.  He has taught and supervised students across many social science disciplines, including Geography, Global Development Studies, Political Science, International Relations and Diplomacy.

His research interests include International Politics, Security, Terrorism, Diplomacy and International Development. He has a well-developed research and educational links with international institutions such as the United Nations, European Union and international NGOs. He has an extensive experience of working with the Post Graduate Research Student Office, Directors of Studies and Supervisors across several Schools and Faculties in his university. He takes keen interest in any intiative aimed at enhancing the research experience of all his Post Graduate Resaerch Students and works with PGR Students Wellbeing Department to support postgraduate research students and creating a stimulating research environment for PhD students. He has chaired many viva voce examinations and served as external examiner and consultant in PGR programme validation for many institutions in the UK and overseas.

    International Politics, Security, Terrorism, Diplomacy and International Development, quantitative analysis.

Personal Interests

    Francis loves music, Latin dance and cycling.
