I am presently research professor of philosophy at the University at Buffalo. My philosophy books include Things: In Touch with the Past (2019), Savoring Disgust: The Foul and the Fair in Aesthetics (2011), Gender and Aesthetics (2004), and Making Sense of Taste: Food and Philosophy (1999). With Jeanette Bicknell and Jennifer Judkins, I edited Philosophical Perspectives on Ruins, Monuments, and Memorials (2020).

Personal Interests

    In addition to philosophy, I write fiction. My novel Charlotte's Story ("Charlotte" refers to Charlotte Lucas of Pride and Prejudice) is in production at TouchPoint Press.
