Associate Professor of TESOL, Dr. Petray (PhD, English linguistics, Purdue Univ) directs the SRU Graduate TESOL Program which she founded in 2016. Biography
Dr. Petray (PhD, English linguistics, Purdue Univ) is Associate Professor of TESOL at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania where she directs the Graduate TESOL Program which she founded in 2015. She teaches graduate level theoretical and applied linguistics for the SRU Department of Modern Languages and Cultures. Prior to SRU, she taught linguistics and contemporary American literature for the Department of English and directed the TESL Program at Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo, CA from 2005-2013. She has presented widely at national and international conferences and published in scholarly venues such as HUMOR: International Journal of Humor Research and International Journal of Applied Linguistics. Her recent research includes Linguistic Discrimination in US Higher Education, coedited with G. Clements (Routledge, 2021) and "Foundations of Linguistics and Identity in L2 Teaching and Learning: Agency through Linguistic Enrichment, Differentiated Instruction, and Teacher Identity" Sept 2021 in International Journal of Curriculum and Instruction with R. Shapiro and G. Vega.Education
