BiographyI am a speech and language therapist with a specialism in AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication, and help to manage a regional AAC assessment centre. I manage a multi-disciplinary team of therapists, teachers and health-care scientists. We have multiple commissioning arrangements, and staff are employed by different agencies, including the NHS and local authority. Our service prides itself on creative, collaborative and innovative team working, where we empower those who use our service, and the people supporting them. We navigate health, education and social care, bringing the priorities of all of these into a coherent and workable plan for each child or young person.
I am absolutely passionate about mental wellbeing of health professionals. In my personal life I have explored and established self-care practices which work for me, but know that these are constantly evolving to meet my current physical and emotional needs, and personal circumstances. Our team have put wellbeing at the heart of service delivery and team working. We have found that if we take care of ourselves, we can take care of our service users.
In my spare time, I will mainly be found in my garden, or on my yoga mat. I am a qualified yoga teacher, which is the perfect complement to being an allied health professional.
