Abdul Razzak Rumane

Biography

Abdul Razzak Rumane was born in 1948 at Chandve, a small village in Raigad District of Maharashtra-India. He is son of Abdul Rehman Hasanmiya  and Rabia. He completed his primary education at Zilla Parished School in Chandve. Since the village had no facility for secondary education, he joined boarding school at Fajandar High School, Vahoor , a Urdu medium school, where completed Secondary School Examination (S.S.C.) in 1965 (First Class). He then joined Ismail Yusuf College for First year Science and then moved to K.C. College of Bombay University and completed Inter Science in 1967. He then joined Government Engineering College at Aurangabad and obtained Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) from Marathwada University-India in 1972 (First Class). He was always keen to upgrade his knowledge and continued with professional courses. He received his Diploma in Modern Management from British Career Training College in 1982 and Diploma in International Trade from British Management Association in 1983. Since then he was interested to take up higher education, as he believed that education can only bring you to the top and thus will make you serve the community with better knowledge in hand. He joined Kennedy Western University and completed his M.S.(General Engineering) in 2002. The topic of thesis was “A Systems Engineering Approach to Construction Projects”. He finished Ph.D. with topic of dissertation “Quality Engineering Applications in Construction Projects” from Kennedy-Western University in 2005. He was awarded Honorary Doctorate in Engineering by The Yorker International University in Italy in 2007.

Dr. Abdul Razzak Rumane is a celebrated engineer having received numerous awards and medals globally. He is listed as one of the IBC’s Top 100 Engineers-2009 and is an author of book titled “Quality Management in Construction Projects” and “Quality Tools for Managing Construction Projects” both published by CRC Press, Florida, USA (A Taylor & Francis Group Company).

Dr. Rumane’s professional career exceeds 40 Years. It includes varied experience in engineering field. It covers about 10 years of experience in production planning, material management, and vendor development for manufacturing, mining, fertilizer and petrochemical projects, preparation of specifications, contract documents, quality control,  material inspection and inspection of electromechanical equipment. Over 30 years of experience mainly relates to civil construction projects. Well experienced in preparation of design, Site Supervision, Checking of project shop Drawings, Review and approval of Project Design Drawings and Materials, Design management, and Construction management, Inspection and testing of construction materials, products, and systems. Well versed in preparation of contract specifications, documents, preparation of QA/QC specifications, quality manual, contractor’s quality control plan, BOQ, Shop Drawings, evaluation of tender bids and application of measures for conservation of energy, and Value Engineering. Assessment and evaluating the functioning of existing systems and preparation of technical reports for rehabilitation work, auditing of executed construction works. He is familiar with various national and international codes, regulations, quality standards and their implementation. He is involved in imparting training in quality in construction projects. During the career has ensured that all the works were executed as per specification requirements and meet the quality standards of Various National / International codes and standards. His articles published in various professional journals/newsletters.  
  
He worked on various prestigious and technical complex projects in India and International level which include; Pelletization Project, Fertilizer Projects in India, L.P.G. Terminal in Iraq, Logistic Support Projects  for defence forces in Saudi Arabia, Jiddah Island project in Bahrain, and in Kuwait, Oil gathering centers, Low income housing projects, various projects for Kuwait University, Commercial complexes, High-rise buildings, Traditional souk, Coast Guard headquarter project ,residential complexes, Kuwait State Audit Bureau, International Tennis Complex among others.

Dr. Abdul Razzak Rumane also presented technical seminar at 2011 International Lean & Six Sigma Conference held at San Antonio, Texas, USA. The topic of seminar was “Application of Six Sigma DMADV Tool in Construction Projects”. The seminar was categorised under “Design and Innovation for Six Sigma”.

Dr. Abdul Razzak Rumane, delivered 23rd Dr. A.N. Khosla Memorial Lecture during 25th Indian Engineering Congress held at Kochi, India, between 16-19 December 2010.This lecture was instituted to perpetuate the memory of Dr. Ajudhia Nath Khosal, a distinguished engineer-administrator of the country.

Dr. Abdul Razzak Rumane participated as a delegate member of People to People Citizen Ambassador Program, which was convened in India during October 2010. The inclusion as a delegate member of such an important international bilateral exchange program is considered as recognition of professional expertise and a great honour. The participation under this program is by invitation only to those having expertise in a specific field.
Dr. Rumane was invited to participate as a member of the Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering delegation under the auspices of People to People Citizen Ambassador Program. The delegation specializing in electrical, electronics and computer engineering convene in India in October 2010. Dr. Robert A. Hanna, past president of IEEE, Canada (2006-2007) and director of IEEE-Region 7 lead People to People Citizen Ambassador Program. It gives a unique opportunity for professional to network, learn, and serve other countries through humanitarian efforts.

He is married to Noor Jehan. She is a housewife. He has two children, one son (Ataullah) and one daughter (Farzeen). Son has completed B.E. (chemical engineering) and M.S. (computer science) whereas Daughter has completed B.E. (electrical engineering). His mother stays at their family house at Chandve, India
