I am an academic general practitioner in Oxford. I am passionate about medical education and have developed linked interests in medical ethics education and medical ethics. I teach medical students and postgraduate and have recently joined the department of primary health sciences at Oxford University. I am part of an international network of scholars with an interest in the ethics of primary healthcare and started the 'Primary Care Ethics' LinkedIn group with Peter Toon and others.

Biography

Dr Andrew Papanikitas qualified as a general practitioner (MRCGP) in 2008. He holds a PhD in medical education as well as degrees in medicine, the History of Medicine, Medical Law & Ethics, and postgraduate diplomas in history, philosophy and child health. He teaches and facilitates medical ethics and law as well as inter-professional and clinical communication skills. From 2010-2014 he has co-led a module on ethics law and professionalism for the KCL Dept of Primary Healthcare. He is one of the founding members of the Royal Society of Medicine Student Members' Group and has served on the Trainees Section, and is currently also on the council the GP and Primary Healthcare Section. He is President of the RSM Open Section from 2012-15. As well as writing books, he has been ethics editor for the London Journal of Primary Care and peer-reviews for the Journal of Medical Ethics, The Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, and the Student BMJ. From 2014 he has been appointed to and academic clinical lectureship in general practice in the Department of Primary Health Sciences, Oxford University. He is also director of the Society of Apothecaries' diploma in healthcare ethics and philosophy (www.apothecaries.org)
