Mehmet Halis Gunel
Mehmet Halis Gunel was born in Izmir, Turkiye. He studied Civil Engineering at METU, Ankara, continued graduate work at the same University, and completed his MSc and PhD degrees in Structures. Gunel worked as an Assistant in the Structural Mechanics Division of the Civil Engineering Department; served as Project Manager in Prokon Consultants Company in Ankara. Since 1991, he has been teaching in the Architecture Department at METU, and currently having the title of Assoc.Prof.Dr.

Biography
Mehmet Halis Gunel was born in Izmir, Turkiye. He received his high school education in Ankara, and studied Civil Engineering at METU, Ankara, Turkiye. After graduated, he continued graduate work at the same University, and completed his MSc and PhD degrees in Structures in 1984 and 1995 respectively.Mehmet Halis Gunel worked as an Assistant in the Structural Mechanics Division of the Civil Engineering Department, METU, Ankara between 1982 – 1984, and 1986-1989. He also served as Project Manager in Prokon Consultants Company in Ankara between 1989-1991. Since that time, Dr Mehmet Halis Gunel have been teaching in the Architecture Department at METU, and currently having the title of Assoc.Prof.Dr.
His technical interests comprise reinforced concrete, tall buildings, prefabrication, and structural design in architecture.
