Maria Grazia Sindoni

Maria Grazia Sindoni, PhD, is Assistant Professor in English Linguistics and Translation at the University of Messina (Italy). She has written four books, published articles in leading international journals, and edited two books. Her main research interests include systemic-functional linguistics, multimodality, testing and assessment, corpus-based critical discourse analysis, Creole studies, theories of semiosis of communication and computer-mediated interaction.


Current position: From 01.03. 2009: ricercatore confermato. (Awarded tenure as an Assistant Professor). SSD: L-LIN/12 (English Language and Translation). Dipartimento di Civiltà Antiche e Moderne, University of Messina. From 08.08.2014: awarded abilitazione alla II fascia, settore 10/L1 (national qualifying examination as Associate Professor in the area of English Studies).

Areas of Research / Professional Expertise

    Research interests: testing and assessment, multimodal studies, varieties of contemporary English (Creole Studies), corpus-based critical discourse analysis; spoken and written discourse in digital media; computer-mediated interaction.
