Shale Preston
Shale Preston is an honorary post-doctoral fellow in the Department of English, Macquarie University. She is the author of Dickens and the Despised Mother: A Critical Reading of Three Autobiographical Novels (2013) and has published a range of articles and book chapters on the representation of gender and sexuality in Dickens's fiction and the relationship between Dickens's oeuvre and contemporary philosophy.

Shale Preston holds a BA (Hons) from the University of Sydney and a PhD from Macquarie University. Her research focuses on Victorian literature (in particular, the works of Charles Dickens) and employs a range of theories to explore intersections of gender, sexuality, and culture.Areas of Research / Professional Expertise
