No Longer the buffer zone! Effective transition across the KS3 English curriculum model
Following on from last year’s successful workshop, Liz will be presenting the next stage in the planning of a robust KS3 English curriculum model. This practical, pragmatic and engaging workshop will support those who have a vested interest in planning transition from KS2 to KS3 and KS3 to KS4. As well as having time to reflect and share their current practise, delegates will work alongside teacher and educational writer Liz Hillier, author of ‘Make KS3 Matter in English’ in establishing meaningful transition across three phases. Believing that KS3 is the pivotal and most creative of the curriculum phases, Liz will provide a range of activities that will influence any future transition planning. From creating fluid long-term plans that help students aged between 10 and 16 build on their skills across the three phases, to embedding meaningful media and speaking and listening into transition, this workshop will give delegates the opportunity to think about how English departments can plan a robust KS3 English curriculum that is able to withstand change at a national level.
