Impact
Hopefully, Productivity Through Wellness for Live Entertainment and Theatre Technicians, Increasing Productivity, Avoiding Burnout, and Maximizing the Value of An Hour will inspire cultural change in live entertainment production, centering employee well being over burnout. Such a change could not only enhance quality of life for the workforce, but also enhance the profitability of our organizations.
Highlights
Productivity Through Wellness for Live Entertainment and Theatre Technicians, Increasing Productivity, Avoiding Burnout, and Maximizing the Value of An Hour -- The book's discussion of how humans operate optimally should lay out the ground rules for how we can work. The estimating and project management section should inspire systems for how much we should expect from our workers. Lastly, the Case Studies will show real world examples of how employee wellness improves the workplace.
Research
I definitely got better at interviewing: I was humbled by the wisdom of my interviewees. I also learned that it's not enough to look at a product and say "good job." Live entertainment is such a collaborative business, the process of course impacts the result.
Development
I started with research in other fields. Fire fighting, health care, trucking, and the military have all made huge strides in understanding the limits of the human body. The project management and motivational information grew out of research developed during my training at the Yale School of Drama, and enhanced by life experience.
