Although intended for use in university level classes in entertainment,Vectorworks for Entertainment Design is also intended for professionals looking to improve their skills and/or move to this program from either working by hand or from other applications. Specifically, designers fo all sort (sets, lighting, sound, video, projection) and technicians working in all forms of entertainment; film, theatre, television, concerts, live event, exhibits, installations, and activations. There is also a tangential opportunity for interior designers to acquire additional skills.

The first edition of Vectorworks for Entertainment Design was written using the v2014 of the software. This edition used the v2019 and v2020 versions. There have been many changes and improvements.
In the first edition, the project that the text described was more theatre focused. While this one is as well, assuming the book will be mostly used by schools of theatre, the design for the stage set also incorporates design ideas used in concerts and live events. So the project will hopefully appeal to a broader range of students/professional. Similarly, I like to offer students glimpses into the variety of work they can accomplish in an entertainment career.
The text covers the process from ideation through creating great renderings to illustrate the ideas and production documents for executing the ideas. The content underlying message is about great communication and collaboration, something critical in the entertainment world.
