On March 22, 2016 Dr. Michael Fagel and retired Colonel, Dr. Jennifer Hesterman are giving a workshop that will be of interest to all those interested in protecting ‘soft targets’ in their communities and beyond. Soft targets are places like schools, businesses and churches, that are largely under-protected and therefore extremely vulnerable. Dr. Fagel and Dr. Hesterman has each authored multiple books on  protecting our communities with CRC Press.

Michael J. Fagel

Michael Jay Fagel, PhD, CEM has been involved in many phases of public service. His professional career spans nearly four decades in Fire, Rescue, Emergency Medical Services, Law Enforcement, Public Health, Emergency Management, as well as corporate safety and security. Since 2003, he has supported many phases of Homeland Security operations in numerous capacities.

Jennifer L. Hesterman

Dr. Jennifer L. Hesterman is an expert on international and domestic terrorist organizations, transnational threats, and organized crime. She is one of very few analysts specializing in the terror-crime nexus. She performs operational research on terrorist exploitation of the Internet through social networking, nonbank, Internet auction and Dark Web sites. She is also a consultant on soft target vulnerabilities and hardening tactics. Dr. Hesterman recently returned from two years in the Middle East.
