This research-based book defines the circular city and circular development. It explains the shift in focus from a purely economic concept, which promotes circular business models in cities, to one that explores a new approach to urban development. This approach offers huge opportunities and addresses important sustainability issues: resource consumption and waste; climate change; the health of urban populations; social inequalities and the creation of sustainable urban economies. Biography
Jo Williams is the Director of the Circular Cities Hub. She is also an Associate Professor in Sustainable Urbanism at the Bartlett School of Planning, UCL. She has 23 years of research experience, working closely with industry, government and cities. She also advises International bodies (European Commission, EIB, EEA, OECD and UN) on the delivery of circular cities, low carbon cities, circular, sharing and bio-economies. Jo is on the steering panel for several large European research projects. She has published widely.
