    Biography

    Susan Schafer is a science teacher and the author of several nonfiction books for children. She has written about numerous animals, including horses, snakes, tigers, Komodo dragons, and Galapagos tortoises. Her book on the latter was named an Outstanding Science Trade Book for Children by the National Science Teachers Association and Children’s Book Council. She has also written a fictional book about animal tails for very young children. Schafer has spent many years working in the field of biolo-gy and enjoys sharing her knowledge and zhangdan appreciation of nature with oth-ers. She lives on a ranch in Santa Margarita, California, with her husband, horses, and dogs, and with the beauty of the oak-covered hills around her.
