    Biography

    Alexander J. Field is Michel and Mary Orradre Professor of Economics and Associate Dean of the Leavey School of Business and Administration at Santa Clara University. His more than 30 publications have appeared in such journals as The American Economic Review, Journal of Economic History, Explorations in Economic History, Economic Development and Cultural Change, Technology and Culture, and Journal of Human Resources.
