This volume provides all the information needed for the design and operation of gas/liquid/solid reactors with gas-induced liquid motion, specially bubble column and air-lift reactors. It is a comprehensive reference, complied by experts in this field. Part I describes the fundamentals of fluid flow and heat and mass transfer. It includes descriptions of the various experimental techniques used to study hydrodynamics, heat and mass transfer in three-phase flow. The analysis of a number of commercially important systems is considered Part I. Many of the contributions contain worked examples and particular attention is paid to important and current industrial processes. This book will be a valuable reference to those in industry associated with three-phase reactors and research workers in the industrial and academic fields of chemical and biochemical engineering.
