    Biography

    Dr. Pawan Sharma completed his B.Tech. degree from Uttar Pradesh Technical University in 2008 securing first position and got a master’s degree from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) Allahabad with a gold medal in 2013 in Production Engineering specialization. He completed his Ph.D. in the area of Additive Manufacturing/3D printing from IIT Delhi in the year 2019.

    He has more than 8 years of teaching experience and is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT (BHU) Varanasi. Dr. Sharma diversified his research areas in the field of digital manufacturing, advanced machining, powder metallurgy and also continued working in the area of Additive Manufacturing. The key highlight of his research career includes the development of a rapid tooling process using 3D printing and pressureless microwave sintering, the development of an ultrasonic-assisted pressureless sintering process, and the development of topologically ordered iron scaffolds. He has a significant number of research articles in international journals and international/national refereed conferences to his credit. He also has 2 Indian patent granted in the area of Additive Manufacturing. Processes. Currently, he is coordinating the DRDO-DIA Centre of Excellence on Powder Metallurgy at IIT (BHU) and has received research grants from different funding agencies in India.

     

    Prof Badheka studied Metallurgical engineering at The M.S. University of Baroda, India received Bachelor, Master and PhD in Metallurgical Engineering. He qualified Diploma International Welding Engineer awarded by International Institute of Welding in Dec 2011.  

    Presently he is working as Professor of Mechanical Engineering at School of Technology and Dean of Academic Affairs Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU), Gandhinagar, India. He received funding from various funding agencies including DST-Young Scientist (Twice), ISRO, DRDO and DAE for his research in the area of advanced welding processes includes, Narrow Gap Welding using Metal cored and Flux cored wires, Friction Stir Welding similar and dissimilar metal, Friction stir processing for surface composites and super plasticity, Friction welding of pipe for dissimilar metal combinations, and ATIG of reduced activation martensitic steels & 9Cr-1Mo steels. So far he has completed eight sponsored R & D projects. So far he has Guided 40 M. Tech & 13 PhD research into his credit in the area of Advanced Welding Processes. He has published 100+ international journal publications and 60 Intl & National conferences. Member of various professional bodies includes IIW, ISNT, ISTE, IIM, IIF, MRSI, and AWS.

    Academic Awards: Dr Vikram Sarabhai Award for the year 2009-10 for ‘Friction Stir Welding of Aluminum and its alloys’; from Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GUJCOST), Government of Gujarat. He was also awarded Bronze medal by the “Center for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM). He received several Best oral presentation and best research papers awards by The Indian Institute of Welding. He received National technical teacher’s award by AICTE 2022 in recognition teaching excellence in technical education.
