Increase the Durability and Performance of Concrete during Its Lifetime While reinforced concrete is a durable material used for a wide range of construction projects in civil engineering, certain factors must be considered during its design, construction, and maintenance. This includes a variety of conditions impacting strength and performance relevant to specific structural systems, and... Read more

Biography

Mohamed Abdallah El-Reedy, PhD, is a professional structural engineer, and his main area of research is the reliability of concrete and steel structures. Dr. El-Reedy has provided consulting services to several companies and organizations around the world. He has taught courses on repair and maintenance for reinforced concrete structures and advanced materials worldwide. In addition, he has presented numerous papers at conferences sponsored by the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the American Concrete Institute, the American Society for Testing and Materials, and the American Petroleum Institute. He is also the author of seven books.

"This books covers all those aspects of concrete structural design that don’t often get taught at undergraduate level, where the focus tends to be on analysis. The practical design, specification and construction of concrete structures is comprehensively documented in this book and will be a real benefit to practising engineers.
—Antony Darby, University of Bath, UK

"… adopts a highly practical stance on the subject of concrete engineering. The use of real-life illustrative examples throughout is particularly useful to those involved in the study of reinforced and pre-stressed concrete structural design and construction."
—Dr. Lee Cunningham, University of Manchester, UK
