Biography

Dr. Paulo J.S. Cruz is an Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Minho at Guimaraes, Portugal. He is an experienced researcher and consultant to industry and government agencies. His main areas of expertise are steel and composite structures, shear connection systems, precast bridges, bridge monitoring, life-cycle analysis, inspection, maintenance, assessment and management of bridges. Paulo Cruz is an Associate Editor of Structure & Infrastructure Engineering, an international peer-reviewed journal dedicated to recent advances in maintenance, management and life-cycle performance of a wide range of civil infrastructure systems.

Dr. Dan M. Frangopol is a Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder, USA. He is an experienced researcher and consultant to industry and government agencies, both nationally and abroad. His main areas of expertise are structural reliability, structural optimization, bridge engineering, and life-cycle analysis, design, maintenance, and management of structures and infrastructures. He is the recipient of several prestigious awards including the 2005 ASCE Newmark Medal, the 2004 Kajima Corporation Research Award, the 2003 ASCE Moisseiff Award and the 2001 ASCE Croes Medal. Dan Frangopol is the Founding Editor of Structure & Infrastructure Engineering, an international peer-reviewed journal dedicated to recent advances in maintenance, management and life-cycle performance of a wide range of civil infrastructure systems (publisher: Taylor & Francis).
