Biography

Ravi Shankar Dwivedi, PhD, has over three decades of experience in applications of geospatial technologies in agriculture at the National Remote Sensing Centre, Indian Space Research Organization, Government of India, Hyderabad. He subsequently joined Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, India, where he has been an Academic Advisor/Guest Faculty since 2012. He is an expert in land resources management, including soil resources inventory, mapping and monitoring land degradation/desertification, wastelands, and land use/land cover using a variety of remote sensing data. He has experience in the generation of action/developmental plans for watershed management and its impact assessment using a variety of sensor data and GIS. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, India, and holds awards from the Indian Society of Remote Sensing for outstanding contribution in the field of remote sensing and the Doreen Mashler Team Award for outstanding contribution to integrated watershed management for sustainable development (as a member of ICRISAT team). He is also Associate Editor of the journal Photogrammetric Engineering Remote Sensing and Guest Editor, Remote Sensing, an open access journal, published by the Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI).
