Biography
Miguel Altieri is Professor of Agroecology, Department of Environmental Science, Policy and Management, University of California, Berkeley, USA. He has published extensively over the last 40 years on agricultural pest management and agroecology, including the classic book "Agroecology: The Scientific Basis of Alternative Agriculture" (1987, 1995).
Clara Nichols is a Permanent Lecturer on sustainable rural development in the Global Studies program at the University of California, Berkeley, USA. She is also Adjunct Professor in Agroecology and Rural Development at Universidad de Antioquia, Colombia, and President of the Latin American Scientific Society of Agroecology.
