Biography
Teresa Abramowicz-Gerigk is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Ship Operation at the Faculty of Navigation, Gdynia Maritime University. She gives lectures on applied mechanics and ship handling. Her field of interest is mathematical modeling of the safety of maritime transport and ship hydrodynamics. She has participated in several international scientific projects. She has published one book and over 100 papers in scientific journals and conference proceedings.
Joanna Soszyńska-Budny is a Professor at Department of Transport at the Faculty of Navigation, Gdynia Maritime University. She gives lectures on mathematics, statistics, and reliability. Her field of interest is mathematical modeling of the safety and reliability of complex systems under variable operating conditions. She has participated in several international scientific projects. She has published three books and over 100 papers in scientific journals and conference proceedings.
Zbigniew Burciu, Master Mariner, specializes in maritime safety, transport safety, and maritime search and rescue. He is the author/co-author of over 180 publications and three monographs; manager of 12 research projects; promoter of four doctoral theses; and reviewer of four doctoral theses, four habilitation thesis, and four professorial theses. He has reviewed the award of honorary doctorates at the Maritime University of Gdynia.
Adam Weintrit, PhD, DSc, FRIN, FNI, Master Mariner is the President of Gdynia Maritime University. His research interests encompass areas such as maritime navigation, maritime transport, geodesy, cartography, and maritime safety. He is the author of more than 350 scientific publications, including 18 books, and the editor of 19 monographs. The majority of his work is published in English. He held the position of Chair of the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) from 2023 to 2025 and currently serves as an expert to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). Since 2016, he has been a member of the Transport Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences and was Chair of the Waterborne Section from 2016 to 2024. In 2024, he was re-elected to the Transport Committee and made a member of the Geodesy Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He is the organizer of the 'TransNav' International Conference on Marine Navigation and Safety of Sea Transportation.
