Biography

Soni O. Oyekan is President and CEO of Prafis Energy Solutions. He is a globally renowned expert in oil, gas and oil refining. Soni was the Corporate Process Technologist for Marathon Petroleum Company, BP/Amoco and Sunoco separately with responsibilities for naphtha processing, oil refining processes and technology support for over a span of 20 years. Prior to 1993, Soni conducted R&D studies at Exxon, Engelhard and DuPont for 16 years which resulted in his inventions for catalytic naphtha reforming. His key inventions are used globally to enhance the production of transportation fuels. Dr. Oyekan was awarded the NOBCChE Percy Julian award in 2009 for his outstanding contributions in oil refining. The author, a resident of Richmond, Texas, is a Fellow of American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), a member of the AIChE Foundation Board of Trustees and of NOBCChE. He is a member of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers, Sigma Xi and Phi Kappa Phi societies. Dr. Oyekan received the B.S degree (1970) in Engineering and Applied Sciences from Yale University. New Haven and the M.S. (1972) and Ph.D. (1977) degrees in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh.
