“Dr. Martin Murphy provides a stark, clear-eyed diagnosis of the threat posed by the People’s Republic of China to global trade and the foundational notion of the free sea. Lucid in style, comprehensive in research, and brilliant in analysis, his ability to extract a coherent argument from disparate facts is nothing less than superb. Must read for global policymakers.”

“This well referenced scholarly work will bring any reader up to date with the long history of China’s maritime ambitions. Drawing on a myriad of sources and studies, the authors lay out their thesis of the key tenets of Chinese ambition and how it will go about achieving them. The comprehensive web that the CCP has woven across the oceans for decades is exposed thoroughly here as the underlying concept of Chinese imperialism.”
