Biography

Dr Brajesh Bajpai is an accredited Executive Coach with coaching degrees from the University of Cambridge, Ashridge (HULT), UK, and a Doctorate in Coaching and Mentoring from Oxford Brookes University, UK, who over the last 15 years has coached more than 500 clients across 30 countries.

“Dr. Bajpai brings a rare blend of research, lived experience, and reflection to a question that matters deeply in today’s world — how do we keep coaching real, connected, and empathetic in today’s digital age? This book offers both a clear-eyed analysis and a hopeful vision for the future, reminding us that while technology may transform how we coach, it is our humanity that gives coaching its transformational power.”

Marshall Goldsmith is the Thinkers50 #1 Executive Coach and New York Times bestselling author of The Earned Life, Triggers, and What Got You Here Won’t Get You There

“Digital Coaching has become the standard mode for coach delivery for both personal and organisational coaching. Understanding the what, how and the why are essential skills for coaches in the digital age. This book provides answers to these questions for the modern coach.”

Jonathan Passmore is the Professor of Coaching & Behavioural Change at Henley Business School, UK

“In a time when technology is rewriting how organisations connect, learn, and lead, Brajesh’s Coaching in the Digital Age arrives as a vital contribution. It bridges the worlds of research and practice to show how coaching can be a lever for digital transformation, grounded in humanity, ethics, and purpose. For CHROs and senior HR leaders, it offers fresh perspectives on building resilience, empathy, and trust across distributed teams. Brajesh brings the rare clarity of a practitioner-scholar, helping organisations harness coaching not just as a tool for leaders, but as a catalyst for organisational renewal.”

Ronald Schellekens, Global CHRO of Magnum Ice cream, member of the Supervisory Board at Staffbase

“In Coaching in the Digital Age, Brajesh succeeds in what many attempt but few achieve, to bridge the lived reality of coaching practice with the reflective depth of doctoral research. Drawing on a constructivist lens and rich practitioner inquiry, he illuminates how digitalisation is reshaping not just the tools and contexts of coaching, but the very essence of presence, empathy, and connection. This work is particularly significant for those of us engaged in developing coach scholars. It offers a model of how rigorous, reflexive research can speak meaningfully to practitioners while advancing our collective understanding of coaching as a social and relational practice. Brajesh’s Four-Winged Framework and reflections on digital presence add new vocabulary and conceptual clarity to a rapidly evolving field.
Coaching in the Digital Age will stand as an important text for coaches, researchers, and supervisors seeking to make sense of what it means to coach, and to be human, in a digitally mediated world.”

Judie Gannon, Director of Doctoral Programmes at the Oxford Brookes Business School, UK, and a teacher and supervisor on the Doctorate in Coaching & Mentoring Program

“Coaching today stands at the intersection of technology and humanity. Dr. Bajpai brings the rigour of research and the wisdom of experience to examine how digitalisation, AI, and virtual presence are reshaping what it means to coach and to lead. This book doesn’t lament change, it humanises it. With clarity and empathy, it helps coaches, leaders, and organisations navigate the shifting boundaries between the human and the digital. In doing so, it reminds us that while technology may transform our methods, it is our curiosity, compassion, and connection that will always define our impact.”

Harit Nagpal, MD and CEO, Tata Play Ltd, and author of Adapt: To thrive, not just survive and Pivot: Between two options, pick the third

“Like it or not, coaching today is a digital activity. Day to day interactions in organisations increasingly involve AI and other digital technologies. While not all coaches are working in virtual reality or partnered with an AI, every coach has to be as digitally competent as the clients they support. Maintaining presence and using intuition become much harder in a digital dialogue. To stay ahead, coaches must first engage with complexity, becoming systems literate, so they are able to coach the system, rather than just the client. They must become more mature, using more of their own wisdom to support client’s in becoming wiser. And they must embrace the technology, creating partnerships that meld the competencies of both human and machine. This book provides practical guidance on how to embrace and capitalise on the rapidly evolving technology”
David Clutterbuck, Visiting Professor at Henley Business School, UK, and Special Ambassador for the European Mentoring and Coaching Council

Coaching in the Digital Age is a timely and insightful contribution to the coaching and leadership development landscape. Brajesh brings together his deep practitioner experience and academic rigour to explore how digitalisation is reshaping the way we learn, lead and connect. His frameworks and reflections on digital presence, empathy and human connection provide an eclectic mix and practical guidance for coaches and leaders/managers, as we navigate today’s hybrid workplaces and other workforce developments. Importantly, I found Coaching in the Digital Age both relatable and thought-provoking. The book goes beyond coaching, it serves as a powerful resource for managers seeking to lead with authenticity and awareness, in a world increasingly mediated by technology. It captures the essence of what it means to remain deeply human even in times of digital transformation.”

Ashok Ramchandran, Director of Human Resources at the Aditya Birla Group (ABG)

“This book is an essential read for any coaches navigating the evolving landscape of virtual coaching. Drawing on rigorous doctoral research conducted during the transformative pandemic period, it captures the pulse of a rapidly changing industry with authenticity and depth. With nearly three decades of industry experience, including 15 years as a coach and over a decade of academic research, Dr Bajpai integrates real-world coaching examples and leadership challenges with practical, research-backed guidance. The result is a highly actionable roadmap for coaches seeking to elevate their practice and make a meaningful impact. Whether you're a seasoned practitioner or just beginning your journey, this book offers clear, immediately applicable strategies to thrive in any digital setting.”
