Description

Coal Production and Processing Technology provides uniquely comprehensive coverage of the latest coal technologies used in everything from mining to greenhouse gas mitigation. Featuring contributions from experts in industry and academia, this book:

  • Discusses coal geology, characterization, beneficiation, combustion, coking, gasification, and liquefaction
  • Explores coalbed methane drilling, excavatability, surface production, strata control, and longwall production
  • Tackles financial, safety, and environmental issues, including coal company valuations, mine emergency preparedness, and carbon management

Capturing state-of-the-art knowledge from different facets of the coal chain, Coal Production and Processing Technology offers a holistic view of today’s coal industry as well as a look at future trends.

Reviews

"… an up-to-date, valuable source of information on the core aspects in the field of coal. … provides a vision of the innovations and technologies that are shaping the future of coal. … of great interest and highly rewarding for researchers working in coal science, engineering, and technology, and for professionals in the coal industry. It will also serve as a stimulus to those starting in the field of coal."

—María A. Diez, Instituto Nacional del Carbón-Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (INCAR-CSIC), Oviedo, Spain

"The chapter on coal liquefaction by Arno De Klerk is a superb job. I can certainly envision referring to, and citing it, in my own work. … Undoubtedly the coverage of the book, in terms of the chapter topics, is very comprehensive."

—Harold Schobert, Schobert International, LLC, Jordan, Minnesota, USA

"… very interesting writing style, the content is compact, and it gives a very competent scientific intention and outlook for coal science and coal technology in the future."

—Norbert J. Volkmann, TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany
