Biography
Vidushi Puri is a law professor specialising in corporate law, with research interests spanning corporate social responsibility and sustainability. She holds a PhD in Law from National Law University Delhi, an LL.M. from National Law University Jodhpur, an LL.B. from the Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, and a B.A. (Hons.) in English from Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi. Her work explores CSR regulation, sustainability governance, and comparative approaches to corporate responsibility, particularly in India, the Nordic countries, and Singapore.
'The concepts of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability have evolved from voluntary aspiration to regulatory mandate, reshaping the contours of corporate governance discourse. Against this backdrop, Dr Puri's comparative analysis is unique in that it traverses India's pioneering statutory treatment of CSR, the Nordic commitment to welfare capitalism, and Singapore's state-led governance model. This work offers essential insights into how different jurisdictions translate ethical commitments into legally enforceable obligations. It provides legal scholars, policymakers, and practitioners with the analytical tools necessary to navigate an increasingly integrated landscape of corporate governance and sustainable development, at a juncture when such integration has become both inevitable and consequential.'
- Professor Umakanth Varottil, Professor of Law National University of Singapore Faculty of Law
'Vidushi's book offers a timely comparative account of CSR and corporate sustainability across India, Singapore, and the Nordics. It shows how law and governance institutions move CSR from aspiration into practice. A valuable contribution connected to themes I explore in Nordic Capitalism: Lessons for Realizing Sustainable Capitalism (2026).'
