Biography
Irena Papadopoulos is Professor of Transcultural Health and Nursing at Middlesex University, UK.
"presents both theory and application to practice in a meaningful contribution to the literature on culturally competent compassion…There is a robust discussion about the philosophical and religious roots associated with compassion and how it is defined and practiced globally. Papadopoulos presents her own model of culturally competent compassion, which includes three constructs: values (human rights), principles (intercultural education), and framework (cultural awareness, knowledge, sensitivity, and competence). Each construct is explored, and applications to practice are presented in care scenarios." – B. A. D'Anna, SUNY Delhi, Choice: recommended title
