Biography
Dr. Humberto Vega-Mercado currently serves as President and CEO of HMV Food and Pharma Consulting, LLC, providing technical guidance to the food and pharmaceutical industries. Throughout his career, he has held senior leadership roles in Manufacturing Science and Technology (MS&T) and related functions. He holds BS and MS degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico and a PhD in Engineering Science from Washington State University, and has authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Vega-Mercado is a seasoned leader with over 37 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and food industries, specializing in technology transfers, process validation, and manufacturing. His expertise spans vaccines, sterile and solid dosage forms, food processing technologies, and advanced platforms such as gene and cell therapies. He has led global efforts supporting the successful transfer, validation, and commercialization of multiple therapies, including cell therapies and vaccines, as well as numerous generic drugs.
