Since her PhD, Nadia has been keenly interested in research methods and ethics as an area of scholarship, with a particular interest in supporting students who want to use less conventional approaches in their research. She supervises students at undergraduate, masters and PhD level undertaking different sorts of qualitative social science research, and leads an undergraduate qualitative research methods module.
“Doing research remotely saves time and money, and makes research more accessible for many participants and researchers. So its increase in popularity is not surprising – yet, until now, there was no guide to remote qualitative research. This practical and accessible book will help students to work more effectively and ethically. It is essential reading for any undergraduate who is studying research methods or preparing for a final-year qualitative research project.”
— Helen Kara,Independent Researcher, UK“This stimulating, engaging and informative text provides an integrated source for students wishing to use a range of methods in remote research. The book offers thought-provoking points for reflection and is full of helpful hints, tips and resources for all aspects of research – from research ethics to writing up”.
— Peter Kraftl, Professor of Human Geography, Loughborough University, UK“This accessible handbook is an essential resource for students considering or undertaking remote qualitative research. It is destined to become a go-to guide that both students and their supervisors will return to time and again. von Benzon expertly guides the reader through every stage of the process, offering clear and supportive insights into key aspects of remote qualitative research, including writing literature reviews, navigating ethics, conducting interviews, working with documents, and employing creative and mobile approaches, among much more."
