This unique handbook provides a guide for supervisors of therapists who use Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, and those undergoing training in EMDR supervision.

Whilst drawing on the literature on supervision theory and research, this book provides a down-to-earth guide to this topic, focusing on the European system of accreditation. The book guides the EMDR supervisor and supervisor-in-training in the difficult task of balancing the roles of educator, enabler, and evaluator.

Using the author’s unique blend of warmth, humour, and humility, the book includes vignettes of real-life situations encountered by the author and provides practical solutions to dilemmas encountered in EMDR supervision.

    Biography

Dr Robin Logie is a Clinical Psychologist and an EMDR Europe accredited Consultant and Trainer. He has taught on Consultants Trainings in the UK and Egypt and presented on EMDR supervision at conferences in the UK and Europe. He is on the accreditation committees for two national EMDR Associations.

"Finally, a book devoted to supervision for EMDR therapy. Robin, an experienced EMDR clinician, supervisor and trainer has provided a comprehensive framework for supervision utilizing the Adaptive Information Processing model, which guides EMDR therapy. This is a significant and lasting contribution to EMDR therapy."

Roger Solomon, Ph.D., Senior Trainer and Program Director, EMDR Institute

“EMDR clinical supervision is an essential part of becoming a competent EMDR therapist – but until now, there has been no text which provided an overview. Robin expertly links theory and research to practice, combining in-depth information with clinical anecdotes and stories.  He encourages us to reflect on the process, whilst also covering areas which are often missed such as diversity, rupture and maintaining the balance between the different roles of the supervisor.  This is a book which novice and experienced EMDR consultants alike will want to add to their collection.”

Naomi Fisher, Ph.D., Clinical Psychologist and EMDR Consultant and Trainer

“Logie’s wisdom and experience shine through in this book. He is comfortable sharing bumps in the road he encountered during his own development as a supervisor but also offers up the learning he took from these with a gentle authority.  The tone of the book is collaborative and has an overall feeling of safety. Each chapter is clearly broken down into different sub-sections. The content therefore flows nicely with each section building up what has gone before, but it is also easy to find particular topics if you need to dip in and out. A real strength of the book is the way its ideas are explicitly grounded in theory followed by clear and practical suggestions for application, often illustrated with examples from the author’s experiences as a supervisor and supervisee…I suppose it’s telling that, in addition to having some dedicated time to read this book with a reviewer’s eye, I often found myself reaching for it in my day-to-day work, which is surely proof positive of its value and yes, I can’t recommend it highly enough.”

Dr Andrew Wilkinson is a clinical psychologist with Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He is an EMDR Europe Accredited consultant/supervisor and a training facilitator with EMDR Academy.
