Biography

Chew Lip Ng is Senior Consultant and Clinical Director at the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, National University Health System. He graduated from the National University of Singapore and was conferred Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Master of Medicine (ORL), and elected Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and Fellow of the International Board for the Certification of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. A/Prof Ng holds the academic appointment of Adjunct Associate Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He concurrently holds an Associate Professorship at the NUS Centre for Behavioural and Intervention Sciences Implementation. He is an invited faculty and speaker to numerous regional and international ENT and FPRS conferences. As a committed educator, he is involved in the teaching of medical students and residents, serving as the Undergraduate Director of the Department and former Associate Program Director of the NUHS ENT Residency Program. He received the NUS Clinical Training Excellence Award for the Department as Undergraduate Director. He also directs a Clinical Fellowship/Observership Program to train international surgeons. He received the Kris Conrad Award for Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery from the University of Toronto, and the Claus D.Walter Award for the highest scores in the European and International FPRS Fellowship Examination. He serves as Examiner for the NUS MBBS Examination, and the European Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship Examination. A/Prof Ng has been awarded over $1million in research grants as Principal Investigator and actively publishes in Tier 1 peer-reviewed medical journals including Allergy, Thorax, JAMA Otolaryngology, Laryngoscope & Aesthetic Surgery Journal, has authored several medical textbook chapters and serves on the Editorial Boards of several medical journals including the Singapore Medical Journal. He was a Consultant Author in the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy International Consensus Statement on Allergic Rhinitis. His research focuses on novel techniques in Asian Rhinoplasty, new models of care for ENT conditions and optimising the efficiency of surgical systems. He has developed several novel techniques and instruments in Rhinoplasty and Sinus Surgery. Beyond clinical work, A/Prof Ng is active in the professional community, serving in the following capacities: - Honorary Secretary of the Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Singapore, - Exco and Council Member of the Singapore Medical Association - Secretary-General of the Medical Associations of ASEAN - Chairperson of the Section of Rhinoplasty of the ASEAN Rhinologic Society - Honorary Secretary, Section of FPRS, Academy of Medicine Singapore - Board member of the SMA Charity Fund - Appointed member of the Law Society Inquiry Panel - Advisor, SMA Doctors in Training Committee - Member, Ministry of Health National Welfare Committee for Junior Doctors - Member of the Art Science Council of the NUS Mind Science Centre
