Biography

Kaviyarasu Kasinathan is a researcher specializing in nanoscience, sustainable materials, and energy technologies. Formerly a Senior Researcher at the UNESCO Africa Chair in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (U2ACN2), he is now an Associate Professor at the Institute for Catalysis and Energy Solutions (ICES), University of South Africa (UNISA). As the author of 340 scientific publications, he has achieved an h-index of 89 and authored more than 22,779 citations. He has made significant contributions to advanced nanomaterials, energy storage systems, catalysis, and sustainable technology. Through his research, he emphasizes the value of waste, sustainable materials, and environmentally sustainable energy solutions through the integration of nanotechnology and circular economy principles. He specializes in developing advanced nanomaterials for applications such as energy storage, catalysis, environmental remediation, and sustainable technologies.  As part of his work, Dr. Kasinathan increasingly emphasizes sustainable materials design, waste monetization, and environmentally responsible energy solutions, integrating nanotechnology with circular economy principles. Developing low-carbon and resource-efficient technologies is his objective through his interdisciplinary research on nanostructured materials, green synthesis strategies, and electrochemical energy systems. Several of his publications highlight innovative approaches to converting waste resources into value-added functional materials, which support sustainable production and responsible consumption. His research has addressed emerging challenges in materials science, biotechnology, and sustainability. He has written and edited several international academic books and research publications. In addition to his editorial contributions to leading academic publishers, he has also contributed to books exploring biological model systems, nanotechnology applications, and the development of sustainable materials. As part of his current book project, Embracing the Circular Economy Framework: An Integrated Approach to Balance Consumption and Production, he examines how scientific innovation, sustainable resource management, and policy frameworks can work together to advance the transition toward a circular economy.

 

Syed Beer Mohamed is a distinguished materials scientist, educator, and academic leader whose career spans more than three decades of teaching, research, and innovation. He is widely recognized for his contributions to materials science, nanotechnology, composites, and advanced engineering education. Born and raised in Pudukkottai, Tamil Nadu, India, Dr. Beer Mohamed pursued abroad and rigorous academic path in his career. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Physics and Electronics, followed by a Master of Science from Bharathidasan University, Trichy. He then advanced his specialization with a Master of Engineering in Metallurgical Engineering (Materials Science) from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Trichy. Driven by a passion for deepening his expertise, he earned his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Materials Science from University Putra Malaysia.  Dr. Beer Mohamed’s academic journey provided a firm foundation for an expansive professional career that blends teaching, research, and leadership. He has served in key academic and research positions across institutions globally and in India. Throughout his career, Dr. Beer Mohamed has guided numerous students and researchers, contributed to peer-reviewed international journals, conferences and patents, and played a leadership role in institutional research initiatives and innovation councils. His commitment to academic excellence, mentorship, and international collaboration has established him as a respected figure in both Indian and global scientific communities. Beyond his formal roles, Dr. Beer Mohamed is known for championing research that bridges fundamental science and practical engineering challenges - especially in areas critical to sustainable technology and energy materials - making a lasting impact on future generations of engineers and scientists.

 

Rasiah Ladchumananandasivam is a Professor Emeritus with extensive academic and research experience in the fields of Textile Engineering, Materials Science, and Engineering. His research has focused particularly on renewable materials, polymer and ceramic composites, recycling technologies, and sustainable energy systems. Throughout his academic career, he has been actively engaged in teaching, supervising postgraduate and doctoral research, and participating in international collaborative projects. His work integrates fundamental scientific principles with practical industrial applications, particularly in areas related to sustainable materials and circular economic practices. Dr. Ladchumananandasivam has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed research papers, book chapters, and edited volumes, contributing significantly to the advancement of research in sustainable materials, environmental technologies, and renewable resource utilization. He has served in academic institutions across several countries and has guided many postgraduate and doctoral researchers. In recognition of his academic contributions and services to higher education and research, he has been honored with the title of Professor Emeritus.
