Biography
Marco Palma is a researcher at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI), working on climate strategies, urban processes, climate justice, just transition, and planetary urbanisation. His research engages critically with the social and political dimensions of climate governance, with particular attention to urban inequalities, institutional change, and the territorial effects of sustainability transitions. He is especially interested in how climate action is shaped by uneven power relations and how justice-oriented frameworks can inform more inclusive urban and regional policies. He brings over ten years of experience in local governance and international projects on sustainability and social inclusion, gained through positions in local administrations and universities. This combined academic and professional background informs his research on urbanisation, climate justice, and low‑carbon transitions, with a specific interest in the design and implementation of just transition policies.
