Biography

Michael Mattesi, Founder of FORCE Drawing
Michael’s creative and artistic, 25-year career has provided him with a wide range of experiences across animation, video games, comics, advertising and art education. His most significant achievement lies in his revolutionary drawing method called "FORCE," which he meticulously documents and shares with the global art community. This influential technique is based on understanding the underlying forces and energy within a subject, enabling artists to capture the essence and vitality of their subjects on paper. Mattesi’s FORCE method has garnered widespread recognition for its effectiveness in bringing life and dynamism to drawings, making it a valuable resource for aspiring artists worldwide. Mattesi has gained a devoted following, and his books are considered essential references in art schools, entertainment video game and animation studios and workshops across the globe.

Mritunjay Varun is the youngest FORCE Drawing instructor and has been teaching alongside Michael Mattesi for over six years. With a background in animation and game production, he applies FORCE principles of rhythm, form, and dynamic gesture in both teaching and practice. He has trained hundreds of students worldwide, led FORCE workshops, and illustrated FORCE Fabric: How to Draw Clothes.
