Biography
Sheila Mahapatra, the Associate Director for the Center for Research at Alliance University, oversees research publications, Ph.D. and Post- Doctoral programs, Centers of Excellence, research faculties, the Institution Innovation Council, Intellectual Property Rights, and the Academic Integrity Committee. Dr. Sheila Mahapatra earned her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (FACTS Controllers Implementation in Power Transmission Systems) from The North Cap University, Gurugram. She received her MTech. in Power Systems and Automation from Andhra University, where she was a batch topper and B.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from Utkal University. She has close to two decades of prolific experience in the field of academia, research, academic programs, admission outreach, student affairs, and placement initiatives. Her areas of interest include Power Systems Optimization, FACTS devices, Renewable Energy, Energy Economics and Sustainability. Dr. Mahapatra has many research publications in SCI/ SCI- E, Scopus indexed journals, book chapters and in conference proceedings to her credit. She also has several patent grants to her credit. She serves as reviewer for reputed journals like IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery- IEEE, IET Generation, Transmission and Distribution (GTD) IET Journals, U.K., International Journal of Modelling and Simulation, Taylor & Francis U.K., Journal of Concurrency and Computation, Practice and Experience, Wiley Publications and several other journals. She is a life member of reputed professional societies like Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and senior member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
Rohit Babu is an accomplished academician, researcher, and editor with expertise in power system observability, state estimation, optimal phasor measurement unit (PMU) placement, power system optimization, reactive power planning, economic load dispatch, and FACTS devices. He holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, M.Tech. from Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi, and B.Tech. from United College of Engineering and Research, Greater Noida. Currently serving as Assistant Professor at Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, he has published around 40 research articles. Dr. Babu is an associate editor for the International Journal of Power and Energy Systems (ACTA Press), Smart Grids and Sustainable Energy (Springer), and Scientific Reports (Nature), and he is on the Editorial Advisory Board of Journal Européen des Systèmes Automatisés (JESA). He is also a reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement (TIM) and various other SCI/ SCIE journals. A recognized resource person, he has delivered expert lectures at national workshops and FDPs and received the Award for Outstanding Research Publication (AORP) by Vision Group on Science and Technology (VGST), Government of Karnataka, for 2022– 2023. He is a life member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and the Teaching and Education Research Association (TERA), as well as a member of IEEE, the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), and the International Association of Engineering (IAENG).
Saurav Raj is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Raipur, India. Prior to this, he held academic positions at the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai – Marathwada Campus, Jalna, India, and at Alliance University, Bengaluru, India, as an Assistant Professor. He obtained his B.Tech. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from R.P. Sharma Institute of Technology, Patna, India, in 2012, and earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, India, in 2018. Dr. Raj has an extensive research portfolio comprising 39 research articles in reputed peer- reviewed journals, 11 conference papers, 1 book and 8 chapters. He actively contributes to the academic community as a reviewer for leading international journals published by Elsevier, Springer, Taylor & Francis, Wiley, and IEEE. His research interests include renewable energy systems, swarm and evolutionary, optimization techniques, intelligent control of power systems, optimization and control of stochastic systems, power system analysis and optimization, flexible alternating current transmission systems devices and distributed generation, power system planning and reactive power planning.
Sumit Verma is a seasoned power system specialist with deep expertise in power systems optimization, energy regulation, and technical documentation. He currently serves as senior lead engineer at Eirgrid, Dublin. Dr. Verma earned his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (ISM), Dhanbad, and holds an M.E. in power systems and electrical drives from Thapar University, Patiala. Before transitioning into industry, Dr. Verma was a postdoctoral fellow at the Centre for Energy Regulation, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, where he contributed to projects in collaboration with major Indian electricity regulatory bodies, the Ministry of Power, and international organizations such as KPMG and POSOCO. His research, which focuses on energy regulation, optimization, and the planning of power systems, has been widely recognized in prominent journals and conferences, earning him over 700 Google Citations. In addition to his technical prowess, Dr. Verma is a certified internal ISO auditor and has extensive experience in technical documentation and research publishing. He has authored numerous high- impact research papers in international journals of repute. Dr. Verma’s work has had a significant impact in shaping the discourse on energy efficiency and power system management in India and beyond.
