About the Authors

Dr. Cristiane Queiroz Surbeck is the Associate Dean, Associate Professor, and Professional Civil Engineer at the University of Mississippi. She has consulting, teaching, research, industrial, and government experience, as well as numerous publications. She received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine. Mr. Michael Shiang is Principal Consultant of ADvTECH Environmental, Inc., and has over 40 years of professional experience in the environmental industry: conducting hydrogeological assessments and groundwater contaminant investigations, basin-wide hydrogeological studies, remedial engineering and clean-up technology development, multi-phase contaminant fate and transport evaluations, stormwater and TMDL compliance, project management and environmental litigation support. Dr. Jeff (Jih-Fen) Kuo worked in environmental engineering industries for over ten years before joining the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at California State University, Fullerton in 1995. He received a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from National Taiwan University, an M.S. in chemical engineering from University of Wyoming, an M.S. in petroleum engineering, and an M.S. and a Ph.D. in environmental engineering from University of Southern California. He is a professional civil, mechanical, and chemical engineer registered in California.
