Constantine Stephanidis, Professor at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Crete, is Founder and Head of the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) Laboratory, and Founder and Head of the Ambient Intelligence (AMI) Programme of the Institute of Computer Science of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (ICS-FORTH). From January 2004 to November 2016, he served as the Director of ICS-FORTH. Since 2016, he is a distinguished member of FORTH. He has published more than 600 articles in scientific archival journals, books and handbooks, proceedings of international conferences, and workshops related to the fields of his expertise. He has been engaged as the Scientific Responsible in more than 150 European Commission and nationally funded R&D projects and RTD contracts in areas of his competence.

Gavriel Salvendy is a University Distinguished Professor at the College of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Central Florida and founding president of the Academy of Science, Engineering, and Medicine of Florida. He is also professor emeritus of Industrial Engineering at Purdue University and Chair Professor Emeritus and Founding Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering at Tsinghua University, Beijing, P.R. China. He is the author or co-author of 587 research publications including 327 journal papers and is the author or editor of 57 books. His main research deals with the human aspects of design, operation, and management of advanced engineering systems. He is the founding editor of two journals: The International Journal on Human-Computer Interaction and Human Factors and Ergonomics in Manufacturing and Service Industries. He was the founding chair of the International Commission on Human Aspects in Computing, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.

'A bountiful cornucopia of ideas from the fertile minds of leading scholars and rising stars. A milestone volume that will be valuable to newcomers, experienced professionals, scholars and business leaders.'

    Ben Shneiderman, University of Maryland

'Constantine Stephanidis and Gavriel Salvendy's monumental 6-volume series on Human Computer Interaction has to be required for all libraries. This massive encyclopedia of fundamental knowledge will not age, because as new technologies and methods come and go, the fundamental underlying principles (especially those of human behavior) remain unchanged.'

Don Norman, Author of "Design of Everyday Things" and "Design for a Better World"
