Biography

Ashok Vohra is former Professor and Head of the Department of Philosophy, and Dean of Arts Faculty, Delhi University. He was the Member Secretary of the Indian Council of Philosophical Research from 1995 to 1998. His publications include: Wittgenstein’s Philosophy of Mind (1986, 2014), Man, Morals and Self: A Philosophical Perspective (2014), Radhakrishnan: His Life and Ideas (1990), Revelation, Reason and Peace (2020), The Philosophy of K. Satchidananda Murty (1995), Dharma: The Categorial Imperative (2005), Gandhi in the Contemporary Times (2020) and five volumes of The Unpublished Writings of K. Satchidananda Murty viz., Vedanta and Bhagvadgita; Hinduism, Yoga and Indian Culture; Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, and Shintoism; Towards a New Philosophy;  and On Education and Philosophy of Education (2024). His Hindi translations of Wittgenstein’s Philosophical Investigations (1996); On Certainty (1998); Culture and Value (1998); and Tractatus Logico Philosophicus (2016) have been recognised as ‘scholarly translations’ by International Ludwig Wittgenstein Society.
