Biography
Akber Datoo is founder and managing partner of D2 Legal Technology, a legal change and data consulting firm. With 20 years' experience of both technology and legal experience, Akber works with financial institutions to create legal risk frameworks to ensure regulatory compliance and business optimisation. Operating at the intersection of FinTech and LegalTech, this includes the provision of strategic change management advice relating to process and systems for contract data modelling, document assembly, search, information retrieval, know-how and legal opinion management.
Akber sits on The Law Society's Technology and Law Committee where he chairs the blockchain and smart contracts working group. In 2016, he was recognised as "one of the top ten innovators" in the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers' Awards and a “top ten market shaper” in the 2019 Financial Times Business Intelligence Awards.
Akber graduated with first class honours in Computer Science at Cambridge University and is currently a visiting professor specialising in Law and Technology at the University of Surrey.
