Living Music
About the Book Series
Living Music is an open-ended series of edited collections featuring essays on emerging and underexplored composers. Each short book includes around seven scholarly essays examining the music of composers, prefaced by brief background information on each. The principal criterion for inclusion in the collection is that the essay forms the first substantive musicological engagement in English with its chosen subject matter. The series is international in outlook and inclusive in approach, with no a priori aesthetic, stylistic, analytical or musicological stance being imposed upon the scholarly discourse or used as a basis for including or excluding composers. The intention is to act as a catalyst for greater discourse between composers and scholars about recent and current musical trends.
