Biography

Arne Johan Vetlesen is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Oslo, Norway. He is the author of 30 books, with his most recent book being Animal Lives and Why They Matter (Routledge, 2023).

“In an era where governments ignore scientific knowledge on the severity of the nature and climate crises in their decisions and politicians outright rejecting such knowledge gain strong popular support, Vetlesen’s book Living with Disappointment in the Face of Environmental Crisis: Resilience, Resistance, and Denial is a highly timely and sharp analysis of the roots of inaction and denial and possible strategies for resistance.” - Petter Næss, Norwegian University of Life Sciences
