Biography
Don Komarechka is a nature, macro and landscape photographer located near Varna, Bulgaria. From auroras to pollen, insects to infrared, much of Don’s photographic adventures reveal a deeper understanding of how the universe works. Exploring the world that we cannot see with our own eyes has been a common thread in Don’s career as a professional photographer and educator. Don’s work often pushes up against the technical limitations of modern camera equipment and the physical limitations of light itself. Komarechka’s work with moving pictures has been utilized in documentary films from CBC, BBC, Discovery, National Geographic and others.
"Komarechka is an acknowledged expert in the field of Macro Photography and this newly updated second edition of "Macro Photography: The Universe at Our Feet" begins by giving a brief overview of what Macrophotography is, before delving into the best practices and techniques needed to capture brilliant macro photographs.
It is also packed from cover to cover with crisp HD images, case studies, exercises and workflows, all to supplement reader comprehension. The newly expanded second edition includes all new content, such as editorial case studies, new detail in high-magnification workflows, expert insights into software tools such as Zerene Stacker and Helicon Focus, and much more. The rest of the content has also been thoroughly revised and updated to account for the latest tools and techniques in the field.
With its concise and informal approach, "Macro Photography: The Universe at Our Feet: 2nd Edition" will prove to be an extremely useful and accessible resource for professional photographers and photography students interested in all things Macro Photography."-Library Bookwatch: December 2025, Midwest Book Review, James A.
