Biography

Aditya Arya, PhD

Aditya Arya is currently working as Scientist at national Institute of Malaria Research (ICMR-NIMR),  where he has main responsibilities of molecular diagnostics and studying the genetic predisposition and challenges in current malaria treatment regimens especially in context of G6PD deficiency. He has completed his PhD from Peptide and Proteomics division of defence institute of physiology and allied science New Delhi, with proteomics and nanomedicine as thrust areas. He has made enormous contribution to high altitude biology, discovery of proteomics signatures, redox regulation in hypoxic-stress proven and recognised by 40+ research papers, 10 book chapters and 12 books. He holds proven expertise in proteomics, microscopy and cell-based biochemical assays including flow cytometry, protein-protein interactions, systems biology on which he acquired training from prestigious institutions such as European Molecular Biology Laboratory, Heidelberg; Wellcome trust Sanger Institute, Hinxton, Charte University, Berlin and many more. He has also been awarded several grants and awards from EMBL, CSIR and ICMR to present his work in more than 10 countries. His current area of research focuses on developing a panel signature of integrated omics for various environmental stresses and use of bioinformatics and proteomics approaches to obtained consensus anticancer descriptors from dietary antioxidants. During Covid pandemic, he also held the responsibility of conducting and supervising molecular diagnostics of more than 1 lakh samples while working with ICMR. As allied projects he is working in collaboration with BHU (ICMR project) and Jamia Hamdard (Wellcome trust project) on two independent projects pertaining to proteomic analysis of tuberculosis for understanding their basic pathobiology.

 

Lokesh Kori, PhD

Dr. Lokesh Kori is a scientist at Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi, with over a decade of experience in molecular biology, specializing in infectious diseases, particularly malaria. He has made significant contributions to the development of diagnostic biomarkers and assays, with a special focus on Plasmodium falciparum. Dr. Kori is widely recognized for identifying Glutamate Dehydrogenase (PfGDH) as a novel biomarker for malaria diagnosis. His expertise spans research, regulatory affairs, project management, and WHO prequalification of in vitro diagnostics (IVDs), especially in malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV diagnostics. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he played a key leadership role in testing coordination and data management for major Indian government institutions, including the President and Prime Minister’s Offices, the Ministry of External Affairs, Parliament of India, the G20 Summit, and the UN Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee meeting in New Delhi. Dr. Kori has also served as a scientific advisor to biotech startups and contributed to collaborations between ICMR and WHO in vector control and malaria epidemiology. He earned his Ph.D. in Microbiology from Griffith University, Australia, where he studied extremozymes from the thermohalophile Halothermothrix orenii. He also holds Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Biotechnology from Barkatullah University and Rani Durgavati University, India, respectively. Dr. Kori has authored numerous research articles and book chapters and has received funding support from institutions such as ICMR-NIMR for malaria diagnostic protein screening. His technical expertise includes molecular biology, diagnostic assay development, malaria biomarker research, WHO regulatory affairs, project management, and strategic implementation.
