Biography
Marc Amblard is the founder and Managing Director of Orsay Consulting, a boutique advisory firm based in San Francisco. His various services are exclusively focused on autotech and the future of mobility. He advises global corporate clients — carmakers, automotive suppliers, engineering companies, and others — as well as startups and venture capitalists based across the USA, Europe, and Japan. Before moving to Silicon Valley in 2017, Marc Amblard worked at two carmakers, a major automotive supplier, and a global rail industry leader in Europe and the U.S.
“Marc Amblard's Mobily Revolution lays out the essential learning framework to understand automated vehicles. Notably he approaches the topic not just from a technical angle, but also from a business and cultural perspective as well. If you want to understand how the pieces fit together, this is a great guide.” Reilly Brennan, Partner, Trucks Venture Capital
“The transformation underway in the mobility industry is massive, complex, and immediate. In Mobility Revolution, Marc delivers a thoughtful and comprehensive examination of the technological, geopolitical, consumer, and business forces driving this change. The result is an essential guide for industry practitioners, entrepreneurs, investors, and anyone seeking to understand one of the most significant generational disruptions ahead. Marc, thank you for providing such a valuable resource to the entire mobility ecosystem!" Jeffrey Chou, Founder & CEO, Sonatus
“Electrification is reshaping transport and heavy mobility, turning bold ideas into real progress. Yet true transformation demands not just technology, but also resilient infrastructure, accessible charging, and affordable low-carbon energy. Mobility Revolution provides a rigorous analysis of this transition, supported by well-documented, deep insights on the key drivers. It is a valuable compass to help build a future where sustainable mobility becomes a shared and global opportunity.” Mehdi Ferhan, Head of Powertrain Technology, Volvo Group
“What makes Marc Amblard compelling is his unique blend: a European living in Silicon Valley, a sharp observer of the automotive and mobility industries with hands-on experience, a strong appetite for new technologies, and a rare ability to clearly and subtly analyze the profoundly and fast changing mobility space. Mobility Revolution is a comprehensive yet detailed, highly credible reference on the transformation of mobility. A must-read!” Michel Forissier, former Chief Engineering and Marketing Officer, Valeo
“For carmakers, the 21st century has been anything but stable. Rapidly evolving technologies and uncertainty about consumer demand and government policy have made long-term strategic planning nearly impossible. New entrants, supply chain interruptions, changing trade rules, and the rise of Chinese manufacturing all added to the chaos. Marc Amblard masterfully synthesizes how the industry is navigating these challenges, and what it means for the future of mobility.” Michael Granoff, Founder & Managing Partner, Maniv
“In Mobility Revolution, Marc Amblard dissects the green transition and the race towards strategic autonomy. He analyses China’s dominance in the batteries supply chain, including recycling, whereas the EU vows circularity and localization to reduce waste and secure resources and jobs. Yet by allowing imports made of Chinese recycled materials, the EU entrenches its dependence — a striking paradox at the heart of its strategy.” Ali Kassaï Koupaï, former Executive VP, Product & Programs, Renault Group
“Marc Amblard knows intimately the future mobility landscape. His book, Mobility Revolution - How AI, EVs, Robotaxis, and New Modes Radically Transform the Ecosystem, tracks the sweeping changes that continue to rock the world, from autonomous driving to advanced air mobility. Amblard explores the technologies underpinning new mobility, including the rise of software-defined vehicles and the increasing ubiquity of artificial intelligence. He also weighs the geopolitical shifts and regulatory frameworks that will shape future mobility.” Paul Lienert, Co-Author, China Takes the Wheel
“In Mobility Revolution, an ambitious and timely book, Marc Amblard delivers a clear-eyed exploration of the profound disruptions reshaping the automotive industry. From electrification and autonomous technologies to geopolitical tensions and their implications for global mobility, he captures the full scope of today’s mobility revolution. With a didactic and accessible approach, this book helps a broad audience understand the forces redefining mobility worldwide.” Alexandre Marian, Partner & Managing Director, AlixPartners
“A must-read for anyone seeking to understand the Mobility Revolution and where it’s headed. This book offers a clear look at Silicon Valley’s influence on innovation and how AI, autonomous driving, and global supply chains are changing the mobility landscape and reshaping the future.” Mehul Udani, Vice President, Corporate Technology & Innovation, MuRata
“Mobility Revolution captures the industry’s most consequential transformation in decades. Marc Amblard makes clear that autonomy and AI are not standalone breakthroughs — they rely on a rich ecosystem powered by software, data, and high-precision maps. As vehicles become increasingly AI-defined, trusted location intelligence becomes strategic infrastructure. Marc’s analysis is sharp, global, and grounded in execution. A must-read for automotive and technology leaders shaping the future of mobility.” Corinne Vigreux, Founder & Chief Marketing Officer, TomTom
