Biography

Kobi Tiberg is a rehabilitation psychologist in private practice in Tel Aviv, Israel, specialising in the intersection of psychoanalysis, neuroscience, neuropsychology, and trauma. He is an Associate Editor of the journal Neuropsychoanalysis.

‘The compass of this book is remarkable: it casts Freud’s binding (bindung) of free energy as a physics of sentience—apt for contemporary views of the brain as an organ of inference and prediction. The ensuing treatment offers a principled account of trauma, foregrounding the crosscutting themes in neurological and relational trauma. The dénouement of this treatment shows how the mechanics of trauma can be harnessed to remediate its effects through sexuality and humour.’

‘Tiberg’s book is original, thoughtful and very well written. Makes an easy read of complicated matters. Intellectually enjoyable.’

Carlo Semenza, Professor Emeritus, Department of Neuroscience, University of Padova, Italy

‘Neuropsychoanalysis is at its best when it is informed by clinicians who have experience of neurological disorders, as well as bringing the novelty of a psychoanalytic perspective. Kobi Tiberg delivers exactly this combination, and brings decades of experience to understanding the many causal factors and manifestations of trauma. The book is simultaneously well informed and thought provoking!’

Oliver Turnbull, Professor of Neuropsychology, Bangor University, UK
